# Add a bank account

*Add each bank and cash account so AXO can track its balance and reconcile it.*

1. Go to **Banking** and choose **New bank account**.
2. Enter the bank, the account name, the currency and the ledger account it belongs to.
3. Add the opening balance at your start date.

Balances on the Banking page are calculated from the linked ledger accounts, so they always agree with your books.

**Transfers between your accounts**

Use **Transfer** to move money between your own accounts. Bank fees, and any exchange difference on a transfer between currencies, are recorded as separate lines.
