# If a payment fails

*What happens when a renewal payment doesn't go through, and how to put it right.*

1. Your account is marked past due. AXO shows a notice and emails your billing contact.
2. A grace period follows, during which everything carries on working normally.
3. If the payment still isn't made, the account is limited: you can read and export everything, but you can't add new entries.
4. As soon as payment goes through, full access comes back immediately.

> **Important:** A missed payment doesn't delete anything by itself. If the subscription ends because payment was never made, the 90-day period in [Upgrade, downgrade or cancel](https://docs.tryaxo.com/change-plan.md) begins.
