# Journal entries

*How entries work, and why a posted entry is reversed instead of edited.*

Every transaction in AXO creates a balanced journal entry, where total debits equal total credits. Most are created for you — by invoices, bills, payments, payroll and stock movements. You can also post manual journals for adjustments.

**Why you can't edit a posted entry**

A posted entry can't be changed or deleted. To fix a mistake, reverse the entry and post the right one. Both stay in your records, along with who did what and when.

That's what makes your records trustworthy: anyone reviewing them can see exactly what happened, corrections included.

**Reverse an entry**

1. Open the entry.
2. Choose **Reverse**. AXO creates an equal and opposite entry.
3. Post the corrected entry.
