# Record a bill

*Record what you owe a supplier, with tax and withholding calculated for you.*

1. Go to **Purchases › Bills** and choose **New bill**.
2. Choose the vendor, the bill date and the due date.
3. Add lines with the account or item, the amount and the tax code. Withholding tax calculates from the vendor's tax details.
4. Attach the supplier's bill.
5. Save it as a draft, or submit it for approval.

Bills above an approval limit go to the right approver automatically. See [Approvals](https://docs.tryaxo.com/approvals.md).

> **Note:** If the bill is for goods you ordered, match it to the purchase order and the goods received note so you only pay for what arrived. See [Purchase orders and goods received](https://docs.tryaxo.com/purchase-orders.md).
